“Sterling Elliott’s Bicycles”
Speaker: Al Simbritz, Museum Education Coordinator
The Museum’s namesake, Sterling Elliott, was a prolific inventor who looked at everything around him and wanted to make it more efficient, or to perform better. From improved bicycles, social reform, and revolutionizing several industries and a sport, Elliott was a man of vision and practical application. Thomas Edison invited him to his laboratory because he wanted to “meet the genius who could invent a machine that could tie a square knot.” In this one-hour presentation, Museum Educator Al Simbritz will introduce you to some of Elliott’s inventions, and discuss his effect on our American history and culture.
